Delta airlines,
the world's second largest airline in terms of passengers carried and the leading U.S. carrier across the Atlantic, offering daily flights to 493 destinations in 87 countries, has radically restructured its domestic airfare policy.
The new simplified fare structure would slash walk-up fares by as much as 50%, eliminate the Saturday-night stay requirement and other restrictions, and reduce the number of categories for fares to six for coach and two for first class.
Delta's new fare structure applies to all routes within the continental United States.
Delta's move provides substantial savings for those travelers who previously paid Delta's highest fares because they either booked at the last minute or booked a mid-week trip without a Saturday night stay. The move
by Delta also places a strain on other airlines, including the largest U.S. airline American Airlines, to match Delta's fares.
The radical restructuring of fares by Delta is in a response to a growing number of passengers choosing low-cost airlines like Southwest, JetBlue, & AirTran for the their domestic travel needs. What |
